You're right it is pretty cold here, if you call -80C cold (I'm sort of used to it now). The reason why we are all here is because of the distance and time it takes to reach a warmer climate (such as Alberta). The polar bears, which we use for transportation, have very short legs and a large body mass, which means that they are very slow walkers. So, in answer to your question, the reason why we live here is because our polar bears are not fast enough to transport us. Okay, I'm sorry I was kidding. Yellowknife is pretty cold (it's been in the minus 30 C range,eeks!) but the summers are very very beautiful and it is a pretty unique place to live, I really like it!
